Los doctores Jorge Planas, Jaume Masiá y Ramón Llull han participado en Montreux (Suiza) en la segunda edición del 'G-20 Forum For Regenerative Plastic Surgery', la reunión más importante de cirugía plástica del mundo, en la que se han revisado los últimos avances y se han consensuado nuevas prácticas en esta especialidad.
En dicho encuentro participan los 10 cirujanos plásticos más prestigiosos del mundo y 10 investigadores en el campo de la medicina y cirugía regenerativa, y entre los temas de esta edición se han analizado algunas técnicas pioneras como la extracción y posterior infiltración de grasa del propio paciente.
En este sentido, han acordado crear un grupo de trabajo multicéntrico para realizar un estudio conjunto que procure la estandarización de un protocolo que permita perfeccionar y depurar la técnica y conseguir mejores resultados en torno a la reabsorción del injerto de grasa.
Asimismo, han acordado la elección de un coordinador externo que conozca las labores de cirujanos, investigadores e industria para informar de las novedades de la especialidad y optimizar recursos; y han tratado de dilucidar el quirófano del futuro, que pasa por incorporar un laboratorio de biología celular y un banco de criopreservación de células madre y de grasa para manipular mejor los tejidos.
La Clínica Planas, con sede en Madrid y Barcelona, fue el centro impulsor de este congreso anual al organizar en junio de 2011 el primer G-12 World Plastic Surgery Summit, donde se sentaron las bases de estos encuentros y se acordó que fueran periódicos para acercar posiciones sobre la especialidad.
A esta primera reunión asistieron 12 de los mejores cirujanos plásticos del mundo entre los que se encontraban el propio Jorge Planas, quien presidió el encuentro; el doctor Ivo Pitanguy, considerado padre de la cirugía plástica; o el profesor Juan Carlos Izpisúa, director del Centro de Medicina Regenerativa de Barcelona.
En la primera edición se creó un documento de consenso centrado en el uso de células madre en cirugía. El G-12 coincidió con las autoridades sanitarias europeas y americanas al impulsar el uso de células madre para "uso estético" bajo protocolo específico, con consentimiento de los pacientes y bajo la aprobación del comité ético del hospital o clínica.
Asimismo, se convino que pese al enorme potencial del uso de células madre en cirugía y medicina regenerativa es enorme, es necesario seguir protocolos ya contrastados y que cumplan con las normas establecidas de seguridad y legalidad.

Three Spanish Doctors at the G-20 plastic surgery
Doctors Jorge Planas, Jaume Masiá y Ramon Llull have participated in Montreux (Switzerland) in the second edition of the 'G-20 Forum for Regenerative Plastic Surgery', the most important meeting in the world of plastic surgery, which have been revised latest developments and new practices have been agreed in this specialty.
At that meeting were the 10 most prestigious plastic surgeons in the world and 10 researchers in the field of regenerative medicine and surgery, and among the topics in this edition we have analyzed some pioneering techniques such as the extraction and subsequent infiltration of fat from the patient.
In this regard, have agreed to create a working group to conduct a multicenter collaborative study that seeks to standardize a protocol to improve and refine the technique and get better results around the fat graft resorption.
They have also agreed to the choice of an external coordinator who knows the work of surgeons, researchers and industry to report the news of the specialty and optimize resources, and have attempted to elucidate the operating room of the future, which happens to incorporate a biology laboratory cell bank and stem cell cryopreservation and fat tissue to better handle.
Planas Clinic, based in Madrid and Barcelona , was the driving force behind this center to organize annual meeting in June 2011 the first G-12 World Summit Plastic Surgery, where he laid the foundation of these meetings and it was agreed that newspapers were to close the gap on the field.
This first meeting was attended by 12 of the best plastic surgeons in the world among whom were Jorge Planas, who chaired the meeting, Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, considered the father of plastic surgery, or Professor Juan Carlos Izpisúa, director of the Center Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona.
In the first edition was created a consensus document focused on the use of stem cells in surgery. The G-12 agreed with the European and American health authorities to promote the use of stem cells for "cosmetic use" under specific protocol, with consent of the patients and with the approval of the ethics committee of the hospital or clinic.
It was also agreed that despite the enormous potential of using stem cells in regenerative medicine and surgery is huge, we need to follow protocols and meet established standards of safety and legality.
