El Grupo Cryo-Save promueve la sensibilización sobre el almacenamiento de las células madre de sangre del cordón umbilical y las terapias celulares a través de varias acciones formativas celebradas en toda Europa.
Cryo-Save continúa con los Meses de las Células Madre, una campaña que patrocinará eventos educativos en los Países Bajos, Italia y España durante los meses de octubre y noviembre. Con eventos como este, Cryo-Save espera estudiar los avances producidos en el sector de las células madre.
Las células madre cobran cada vez más importancia en el ámbito médico como forma de tratamiento de una amplia variedad de enfermedades tanto malignas como benignas. El Programa Nacional de Donantes de Médula Osea de los Estados Unidos propone la sangre del cordón como tratamiento para el mieloma múltiple, la anemia aplásica grave, la beta-talasemia grave, la inmunodeficiencia combinada severa y otros trastornos hereditarios del sistema inmunitario, además de leucemias y linfomas. Pacientes con anemia falciforme han sido considerados curados tras recibir tratamiento con células madre. Además, se están llevando a cabo más de 4.000 ensayos clínicos con células madre de sangre del cordón umbilical para tratar enfermedades como parálisis cerebral, diabetes y autismo, y potencialmente se desarrollarán otros muchos ensayos clínicos.

Cryo-Save Italy celebrará una reunión especial para matronas sobre células madre y las aplicaciones y servicios de almacenamiento de Cryo-Save. El Dr. Stefano Grossi, Director científico de Cryo-Save Italy, realizará su presentación sobre las aplicaciones de las células madre. Durante el mes de octubre, Cryo-Save Italy también ofrecerá varios cursos a futuros padres sobre temas similares en ciudades de toda Italia: Brescia, Venecia, Bolonia y Milán entre otras.
Las matronas de los Países Bajos están invitadas el próximo 4 de octubre a acudir al laboratorio de Cryo-Save en Niel, Bélgica, para realizar una visita en profundidad a sus modernas instalaciones, una posibilidad que no existe en muchos de los otros bancos de células madre. Las asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de obtener la información más reciente por parte de la Dra. Sally Sennitt, Directora Médica del laboratorio Cryo-Save, sobre las aplicaciones actuales de las células madre, las enfermedades que se pueden tratar con ellas y los nuevos ensayos clínicos. Crio-Cord, la filial de Cryo-Save en España, celebrará un simposio sobre terapias con células madre en Madrid el próximo 16 de octubre y centrará su atención en las terapias de vanguardia que emplean las células madre del cordón umbilical, incluyendo además recientes investigaciones con células madre que se llevan a cabo en dicha ciudad. Al simposio asistirán ponentes nacionales e internacionales y se trata del primero de este tipo que tiene lugar en Madrid.
El congreso "Stemcells? Stemcells!" (¿Células madre? ¡Células madre!) muestra el panorama general de la situación de la investigación y terapias con células madre a especialistas internacionales en neonatología, ginecología y hematología. El objetivo de este congreso consiste en crear un debate abierto acerca del papel de las terapias con células madre en la actualidad y en el futuro. El evento está coordinado por Cryo-Save, de los Países Bajos, y contará con la asistencia de hasta 50 ginecólogos, pediatras y comadronas. El programa está acreditado por la Sociedad de Pediatras (NVK) y la Sociedad de Ginecólogos (NVOG) e incluye presentaciones acerca de las células madre derivadas del tejido adiposo, de terapias con células madre en hematología y sobre las células madre en pediatría.
El presidente del congreso es el Prof. Albert Ramon, fundador de ITERA (Asociación Internacional de Investigación en Ingeniería de Tejidos).

TRAINING ACTIONS OF CRYO-SAVE GROUP AROUND STEM CELLS AND CELL THERAPIES
Cryo-Save Group promotes awareness of storing stem cells from umbilical cord blood and cell therapies through various training activities held throughout Europe.
Cryo-Save continues with the Months of Stem Cells, a campaign of sponsored educational events in the Netherlands, Italy and Spain during the months of October and November. With events like this, Cryo-Save expects to study the progress made in the field of stem cells.
Stem cells are of increasing importance in the medical field as a way of treating a wide variety of both malignant and benign diseases. The National Marrow Donor U.S. Program proposes cord blood as a treatment for multiple myeloma, severe aplastic anemia, beta-thalassemia major, the SCID and other inherited disorders of the immune system, as well as leukemias and lymphomas. Patients with sickle cell disease were considered cured after receiving stem cell treatment. In addition, they are conducting more than 4,000 clinical trials with stem cells from umbilical cord blood to treat diseases such as cerebral palsy, diabetes and autism, and potentially develop many clinical trials.
"The efforts of Cryo-Save to inform medical professionals and members of the community on progress in regenerative medicine assume that patients suffering from diseases that can be treated with stem cells will also be better informed about it," says Dr. Cherie Daly, Director of Medical Affairs in Cryo-Save. Midwives from the Netherlands are invited on October 4th to attend the lab Cryo-Save in Niel, Belgium, for a visit in depth with its modern facilities, a possibility that does not exist in many other cell banks. Cryo-Cord, a subsidiary of Cryo-Save in Spain, will hold a symposium on stem cell therapies in Madrid on October 16th and will focus on cutting-edge therapies using stem cells from the umbilical cord, including recent researchs that are held in that city. The symposium will be attended by national and international speakers and is the first of its kind to take place in Madrid.
The congress "StemCells? StemCells!" shows an overview of the status of research and stem cell therapies to international specialists in neonatology, gynecology and hematology. The aim of this conference is to create an open discussion about the role of stem cell therapies today and in the future. The event is coordinated by Cryo-Save Netherlands, and will be attended by up to 50 gynecologists, pediatricians and midwives. The program is accredited by the Society of Pediatricians (NVK) and the Society of Gynecologists (NVOG) and includes presentations on stem cells derived from adipose tissue, stem cell therapies in hematology and stem cells in pediatrics.
